MWWCA Member Profile: Andre Brousseau

Andre Brousseau, known to many as a member of the original Pump Fiction Ops Challenge team, recently became the Chief Operator at the Sanford Sewer District. Sanford is a 5.0 MGD secondary (& tertiary) activated sludge 5.0 MGD facility. The recently upgraded plant boasts upgraded tertiary flocculation, clarification and filtration process including poly aluminum chloride and caustic chemical feed systems. Six employees work at the plant, with five in collection systems. Two administrative assistants round out the staff.

Andre shows off the Boston Red Sox 2004 World Series Championship RingAndre enjoys the day to day challenges of running a treatment plant. He entered the wastewater field about 14 years ago. When asked why he joined the ranks of operators, he said simply "job security." He started as an operator, and has also worked as a laboratory technician. Andre currently holds a Grade V collection system certificate, a Grade I NEWEA Laboratory Certification as well as a Grade I Drinking Water certification and Grade II Distribution certification.

Many of you are somewhat familiar with Operations Challenge; Andre has become the state coordinator this year. His five years of experience with Pump Fiction and additional experience as an Ops Challenge judge have provided him with a unique flair for this job.
