David Anderson of the Portland Water District Receives the WEF Laboratory Analyst Excellence Award at the Annual NEWEA Conference in Boston, Massachusetts
David Anderson, PH.D.
During over 16 years of work in the water and wastewater fields David Anderson has given, moderated, and arranged countless laboratory-related presentations to laboratorians, operators, and others in the industry. He is an active member of the Association of Maine Environmental Laboratorians and currently serves as its Treasurer. He is also the Chair of the Maine Wastewater Control Association’s Laboratory Committee and First Vice President of the Maine Wastewater Control Association. As Lab Committee Chair, David led the year-long effort to revamp the MWWCA’s Laboratory Manual for Maine wastewater operators. The revision was a very intensive project and involved working with the Maine Department of Environmental Protection, Katahdin Analytical Services, Maine Rural Water Association, and the Maine Department of Human Services in a successful endeavor to develop a useful bench manual that meets the high standards of all of these organizations. Once it was completed, David and other Lab Committee members gave joint presentations to wastewater professionals throughout Maine in order to introduce them to the updated manual. The production of this manual is just one example of David’s long history of quiet commitment to the field; his continual dedication makes him well-deserving of this prestigious WEF award. Job
