Force Maine took First Place Overall at the New England Operations Challenge

(Ogunquit, June 7, 2005)  Force Maine took First Place Overall at the New England Operations Challenge.  The team of four wastewater treatment professionals from the Saco-Biddeford, Maine area are Brian Cataldo (City of Saco), Mary Anne Peck (OMI-Biddeford), Dan Laflamme (Laflamme Electric) and Travis Peasely (Saco WWTP).  Force Maine,  coached by Skip Clough  ( South BerwickWTF), is sponsored by the Maine Wastewater Control Association, OMI-Biddeford, E.J. Prescott, and The Good Water Guys.

Force Maine took first place in the Process Control exam, first place in the Laboratory Event, first place in the new Maintenance/Pump Event, second place in the Safety/Confined Space Rescue Event and third place in the Collections/Pipe Repair Event.  The  Team will represent the New England Water Environment Association (NEWEA) at the Division II national competition at WEFTEC in Washington, DC. October 29-November 2, 2005. 

The New Hampshire Seacoast Sewer Snakes, 2004 Division II National Champions, took second place overall. Green Mountain Water Environment Association’s Caustic Solution, was third.  Both of these teams will also represent NEWEA at the nationals.  Rhode Island’s Barrack Quahogs finished fourth.
