Maine Rural Water
Associations The Guilford-Sangerville Sanitary District received the “Outstanding Operations Award” at Maine Rural Water Association’s 24th Annual Water & Wastewater Technical Conference, held at the Harraseeket Inn on November 30 and December 1. Award-winning systems have made significant improvements to their facilities to better serve their customers and to protect public health and the environment. According to MRWA Wastewater Technician, Janet Abrahamson, “Guilford-Sangerville is a facility that takes a proactive approach to all aspects of plant operation. This includes an effective preventative maintenance schedule, a well run laboratory, and well thought out contingency plans. The facility’s focus on problem prevention also includes a close working relationship with local industry, as well as fellow operators.” In accepting the award, Guilford-Sangerville Superintendent, Frank Ruksznis, said, “We have a tremendous, supportive board and office staff, and without everybody’s positive input, none of this could have happened.” The Maine Rural Water Association is a private, non-profit organization that represents water and wastewater systems through technical, financial, and managerial support. The Association’s goal is to provide safe drinking water and protect the environment at an affordable cost to users.
