Wastewater Treatment Receives the NEWEA 2008 George W. Burke Jr. Award
for Safety at the Annual NEWEA Conference in Boston, Massachusetts

The George W. Burke, Jr. Award was established in 1982 in honor of
George W. Burke, Jr. for his many years of service both to the water
pollution control field and to the Federation as Manager of Technical
Services. Mr. Burke was instrumental in developing the Federation's
annual safety survey and assisting in the production of several safety
training aids and promotional packets.

Steve Freedman of
Brown & Caldwell of Portland, Maine accepts the WEF Service

Ned Beecher Receives the NEWEA Founders Award at
the Annual NEWEA Conference in Boston, Massachusetts

For the past 10 years,
Ned Beecher,
Executive Director of NEBRA, has been a driving force in improving
public perception of biosolids use for the wastewater industry.
Through his research, workshops, and direct involvement with programs
in need of assistance, Ned has brought people together and acted as an
authoritative resource for wastewater professionals.
