Force Maine Honored at Annual NEWEA Conference
Force
Maine, New England’s Champions and MWWCA’s 2005 Operations Challenge
Team,
was recently recognized at the
annual NEWEA Conference for their efforts and accomplishments at
WEFTEC 2005.
Joshua Atwood of Hampden, Maine Receives the Public Educator Award at
the Annual NEWEA Conference in Boston, Massachusetts
The
NEWEA Public Educator Award was established in 1989 to acknowledge
those in New England who warrant merit for their contributions and
service to the public education goals of the Association. This award
is extended to an individual or group who has helped NEWEA achieve its
objective of promoting clean water and increasing public awareness of
and action in water pollution control.
John
Hart of the Saco Wastewater Treatment Facility Receives the
Arthur Sidney Bedell Award
at
the Annual NEWEA Conference in Boston, Massachusetts

John’s
long-term dedication and accomplishments have been recognized
previously by his home state association (MWWCA) and NEWEA through the
Alfred E Peloquin Award in 1996 and Operator Award in 1999. He was
inducted into the 5-S Society in 2004. The Arthur Sidney Bedell Award
was established to acknowledge extraordinary personal service to a
Member Association. John’s long and sincere dedication to the NEWEA
and WEF organizations makes
him truly deserving of this prestigious WEF award.
David
Anderson of the Portland Water District Receives the
WEF Laboratory Analyst Excellence Award
at Annual NEWEA Conference in Boston, Massachusetts
During over 16 years of work in the water and
wastewater fields David Anderson has given, moderated, and arranged
countless laboratory-related presentations to laboratorians,
operators, and others in the industry.
The Laboratory Analyst Excellence Award
was established by the WEF Board of Control in 1993 to recognize for
outstanding performance, professionalism, and contribution to the
water quality analysis profession.
Jane Carroll of
the Augusta Sanitary District Receives the NEWEA 2005 Safety Award at
Annual NEWEA Conference in Boston, Massachusetts
The
NEWEA Operator Safety Award was established in 1995 and is presented,
based on the NEWEA Safety Committee’s recommendation, to an operations
employee from New England who has shown outstanding safety initiative,
and who has worked to promote a high consciousness of safety in the
workplace.
As Laboratory Director for the Augusta Sanitary District, Jane Carroll
has gone well beyond her normal duties by her focus on developing
and maintaining a comprehensive and effective safety program for the
Augusta Sanitary District.
Greg Cataldo recipient of 2005 Alfred Peloquin Award at Annual NEWEA
Conference in Boston, Mass.

In his many years as a wastewater engineer, Greg Cataldo has
volunteered countless hours of his time educating people across Maine
and all of New England on water quality issues. He has also dedicated
himself to volunteer activities in local and regional associations.
Its no surprise that he
receives the Alfred E. Peloquin Award for 2005.
Established
in 1929, the New England Water Environment Association, Inc. is
a not-for-profit organization whose
objective is the advancement of fundamental knowledge and technology
of design, construction, operation and management of waste treatment
works and other water pollution control activities and dedication to
the preservation of water quality and water resources. Comprised of
the six New England states, NEWEA serves over 2,400 members and is a
member association of the Water Environment Federation, an
internationally renowned organization.
